Composting to Reduce Food Waste - IN PERSON

October 6th, 2021 - 5-6pm

Fab Lab ICC 2564 Brookside Dr., Independence, KS

This is a FREE event both in person AND via ZOOM

Fab Lab ICC’s Fab Food Lab and the K-State Research and Extension Wildcat District are teaming up once again to provide community education related to food security, production and management.

Extension Horticulture Agent Jesse Gilmore will present “Composting to Reduce Food Waste” Wednesday, October 6, at 5 p.m. at Fab Lab ICC, 2564 Brookside Dr., Independence, on the campus of Independence Community College.

Statistics indicate discarded food accounts for 25 percent of all municipal waste in the United States. The composting workshop will provide detailed instruction on how to compost food scraps to reduce landfill waste and enhance a home garden.

The workshop is free of charge and open to the community. In-person seating for the class will be limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis, but an option to attend via Zoom also will be offered.
