Fab Lab ICC’s Fab Food Lab has once again booked professional chef Arielle Gustafson for another community cooking class. The class will be presented November 17. The class will begin at 5:30 p.m. at ICC West, 2615 W. Main.

With her passion to help families reduce food waste and save food budget dollars, Chef Arielle has developed her “Extreme Food Makeover” class as a tutorial on creative ways to use meal leftovers, understand why fruits and vegetables don’t have to look perfect to be part of a healthy meal and combine these items with pantry staples to get a tasty meal on the table.

THIS CLASS IS OFFERED IN LIVE ZOOM FORMAT. After the live class, the recording will be edited and made available for download from the Fab Lab’s website, www.fablabicc.org.

Along with her duties as a mother to two small children, Chef Arielle is the owner/operator of The Penguin Cheesecakes, which opened in June 2020 to offer custom gourmet cheesecakes in Independence and the surrounding area. She served as the kitchen manager and sous chef at several local restaurants from 2016-2019 and previously was employed as the kitchen manager at Mercy Hospital Independence, where she oversaw daily meal service and catered multiple special events.

She earned culinary arts certification at Tri-County Tech in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and she loves teaching anyone who is willing to learn.
