Beginner's Quilt Class
Tuesday & Thursday evenings 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
April 28th - May 31st
Taught by local quilting and sewing expert Janet Mayes, this class is for those with previous sewing experience and knowledge of a sewing machine.
Learn the basics, or brush up on your quilting skills with this beginner's quilting class.
This will be your opportunity to create that quilt for someone special or maybe keep it for yourself. The completed project will measure 81 x 96 inches.
You will participate in 10 class sessions with some additional work outside of class time.

Measuring with quilting rulers

Rotary cutting

How to read a quilt pattern

Fabric color and choice, how to use a color wheel, tone and shade (meet prior to class)

Thread choice, cotton or polyester and why (meeting prior to class)

Block skills will include 10 different blocks learning the basics of strip piecing, combining different quilt blocks to make a block, short cuts and multiple methods for creating blocks, squaring blocks, attaching borders, sharp and crisp points, assembling your quilt top, batting choices, how to measure for backing and batting, different quilt methods for finishing, binding and how to care for your quilt.
You may bring food and/or beverage to sustain you during class sessions.

While participating in this class you will receive a 12 week membership to Fab Lab ICC. In case you would like to continue your membership once the 12 weeks has expired, our system will send you an expiration notice, offering another full 12 months for $125. A membership gives you full access, during our hours and by appointment, to the machines and facilities of Fab Lab ICC including Sew Fab and the mid-arm quilting machine.
